Square Enix shared the latest on Dragon Quest XI in this week’s issue of Jump magazine with a new character introduction feature starting with Veronica and Senya. We also get some more info on the Village of Homura.
First is the fearless prodigy Veronica. She hates being treated as a child and uses a two-handed staff and whip as her go-to weapons. She may be small, but she’s a tomboy who won’t back out from any fight. In addition to having some powerful fire magic, she has the ability to further power up her spells with her staff skill. She can also use a whip skill that can hit enemies multiple times.
Contrary to the more “in-your-face” Veronica, Senya is a kindhearted character who specializes in healing. She uses a stick in combat and can also use a spear. To add to the further contrast of Veronica, she speaks in a polite manner. You might even see her easy-going personality make Veronica impatient at times. In addition to having abilities like Kerplunk, she’s able to use attacks such as “Holy Light” to help out with the offense among other abilities.
We previously got a peek at some artwork for a new Japanese-style village based on Dragon Quest III’s Jipang. The magazine reveals it as “Village of Homura,” a Japanese-style area next to the Hinonogi Volcano. The places has a forge and is known for its steamy hot springs. The village is ruled by a shrine maiden who lives in the village shrine.
Dragon Quest XI releases in Japan on July 29, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch.
