After a while of waiting, we finally got to check out the latest of Dragon Quest XI and Square Enix showed off a little more in the latest issue of Jump magazine.
The upper-left part shows us a bit of what we already know with a little look at the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game. Right underneath, we’re introduced to “Emma,” a friend of the protagonist. She goes alongside the protagonist to take on the ritual to climb the “Rock of God,” where the two see something…
To the right is the protagonist, a 16-year-old who takes on a coming-of-age ceremony. He learns that he is the reincarnation of a “Hero” who once saved the world. The magazine also shows a strange birthmark on his hand that glows when something happens.
The next scan shows us the map of Rotozetasia, the name of Dragon Quest XI’s world. Right under that we get to see a bit of Ishi Village, a small and peaceful place that is quietly located by a ravine.
To the bottom-left we have Camus, the blue-haired thief who becomes a sworn comrade of the protagonist. He might have a bad mouth but he’s second to none when it comes to being a trustworthy ally.
Finally, the bottom-right gives us a look at some of its battles. We get to see some familiar monsters looking as great as ever. The 3DS version of the game will also depict the monsters moving when in 3D mode. The 2D mode will show things a little more on the old school side, with monsters depicted in dot art style.
Dragon Quest XI releases in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch.
