Dragon Quest VIII’s Photo Mode Has Players Track Down Rare Monsters And Hidden Items

Dragon Quest VIII has a new feature that lets players take photos inside the game’s world. Pressing the start button switches the game into camera mode. Players can move the camera around using the slide pad, zoom in or out with the shoulder buttons and press A to take a picture. Photos can be saved on a SD card and exchanged with other players through Streetpass.

Square Enix also made new Photo Quests in Dragon Quest VIII. At the beginning of the game you’ll meet Fort, a photographer who gives players quests and a notebook to keep track of them. You can earn stamps by completing quests and if you get enough stamps you’ll earn rewards.

Some quests have players take photos of landmarks in Dragon Quest VIII’s world.

Other quests have players search for hidden items like this gold slime, which is behind a stack of boxes.

Fort may ask players to take photos of rare monsters too.

Or you can skip the quests and take photos just for fun. Players can capture a sunset or characters interacting with each other. If you fulfill certain requirements you can take special poses too.

Dragon Quest VIII is scheduled to come out on August 27 in Japan.
