Nintendo held a press conference yesterday to talk about some of their upcoming RPG titles, including Dragon Quest VII that is expected to release in the west this summer. The company shared a bit on the localization. [Thanks, GameXplain, via Nintendo Everything.]
According to Nintendo, Dragon Quest VII is “basically a brand new game.” All the writing is new, and no more random encounters, as you’ll see the enemies on the map. That said, we’ll probably get a different feel out of the game compared to what we got with Dragon Warrior VII back in 2001 on the PlayStation.
Additionally, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will also have a story summary feature and StreetPass feature that lets you gain tablets. The presenter also mentioned that Dragon Quest VIII is releasing sometime this year, and that it’ll have a top-notch localization.
