Square Enix revealed not one but three new games for Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai during a special V-Jump livestream today.
Check out summaries of the games presented below:
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Spirit of Bonds
The first title presented was Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Spirit of Bonds (Tamashii no Kizuna in Japanese) for smartphones. Square Enix describes it as an exhilarating “big burst advancement” game.
Check out a teaser trailer for the mobile game:
The theme of this RPG is “bond” and battles with a simple objective of advancing forward. The gameplay revolves around a lead character who protects the other party members who provide support from the back. There are various actions such as moves that blow enemies away and they’re all done with simple controls for smartphone. In addition to familiar characters from the manga and anime, it will feature various equipment found from the DQ series.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Spirit of Bonds will launch for iOS and Android devices in Japan in 2021.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Xross Blade
The second title presented was Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Xross Blade (read as Crossblade). Its genre is “competitive arcade card game” that dispenses cards used for the game featuring uniquely drawn characters.
Check out a teaser trailer for the arcade game below:
The gameplay itself is pretty simple and requires placing cards on the cabinet panel. Characters move based on the card placement, which is also the main strategic focus of gameplay.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Xross Blade will release for arcades in Japan in Fall 2020.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Infinity Strash
Lastly, we have Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Infinity Strash that is in development for console (not specified).
Check out the new teaser trailer below:
The teaser trailer gives us an idea how the action RPG plays, but so far there isn’t much info other than what was shown. Square Enix also mentioned that the footage was something that was put together at the last minute as they didn’t want to show up emptyhanded and felt the need to at least have something for the occasion. That said, the footage is from a very early stage of its development.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Infinity Strash will release for console(s) in 2021.
