Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Synthesis: How to Unlock & Use

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince features many systems to collect and expand your monster collection, such as synthesis. This fusion system feature lets players breed together two monsters for a new, usually more powerful, one.

How to unlock Synthesis in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Before you can take advantage of the Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince Synthesis system and obtain powerful monsters like Krystalinda from Dragon Quest 11, you must first unlock it in the game. Synthesis takes a few hours in-game before you can acquire it. What you need to do is progress through the tutorial, beat the first arena, and then unlock Rosehill Tower.

Now, you need to challenge the arena again to unlock a new companion. Once you do this, you’ll get your first Travellite crystal, which takes you to new locations. Head to the monster world of Nadiria, and there is a monster arena here. Tackle the first category of the monster arena there and win it, then return to Rosehill Tower. At this point, Monty will grant you the power of synthesis.

Best early Synthesis Options

Once you have Synthesis unlocked, head to the basement floor of the tower anytime and speak with Monty to breed two monsters together. You have two options for synthesis: manually breed two monsters you have together or reverse search and see what monsters you can currently create.

Some of my favorite early synthesis options for categories G-E include Meowgician, Great Sabrecub, Dark Sabrecub, Dark Slime, and Pocus Poppet. In general, you should toggle on the option to only see synthesis results for monsters you don’t currently have. Then, sort them by rank. For the most part, you want the highest ranks possible, but you may need to win higher-rank arena tests to unlock them.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
