Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Characters and DLC Introduced

Square Enix shared new details about the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince characters and launch DLC. We already knew we’d follow a “dark prince” under a curse that forces him to use monsters to fight, due to him being unable to attack them on his own. Now we know his name is Psaro, and he’s joined by Rose, Toilen Trubble, and Fizzy. As for the DLC, three paid pieces will appear at launch.

There are four main members of the titular Dark Prince’s party. The main character in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is Psaro. As he heads out to become the Master of Monsterkind by defeating his father who cursed him, Rose the elf and the human researcher Toilen Trouble will help in their own ways. There’s also a mascot monster named Fizzy who teaches Psaro about recruiting and training monsters, and she seems to be a new kind of species.

As for the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince DLC, there will be three add-ons at launch. Here’s what we can buy:

• Coach Joe’s Dungeon Gym: Randomly generated dungeons and Psaro Cake-Maker’s Clobber outfit.
• The Mole Hole: Scout monsters at various ranks and get the Gothic Vestment Psaro outfit.
• Treasure Trunks: Chests with items to get and Psaro Monstrous Mail outfit.

Square Enix also confirmed over 500 monsters will appear in the title, with some appearing when the seasons change as in-game time passes. It also noted this will be the first entry in which Goomulonimbus, Ronin Raccoon, and Vegandragora appear.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will come to the Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2023.
