Dragon Quest Monsters games have always been about mixing and matching monsters to come up with your own unique and powerful allies. 4Gamer’s latest report gives us a look at how it’s done in Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3.
In addition to leveling monsters up and equipping accessories, there’s another way to power up monsters by using the “Monster Fusion.” Similar to past games from the series, this works by getting two monsters as the parents and creating an even more powerful monster between the two. This can be repeated to keep on making stronger monsters.
For starters, you’ll need two monsters as the parents. Since they don’t have any genders, you’ll be able to mix and match to your heart’s content.
The above is the fusion product “Fondue” from the two monsters of Eggplaton and Smiling Lizard.
In Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3, you’ll get to choose out of five different monsters as a result of the Monster Fusion. So that means if you fuse monsters using a Nature-type and Demon-type, you can also get a variety of different monsters from different types or make them into the same but more powerful version of their parents.
Depending on how your mix, there are countless possibilities of creating monsters, and even some special ones that can only be made through certain pairings, which include extra powerful monsters.
The monsters that are created from fusions can get skills from their parents in addition to the skills they’re born with. The above images show how even a simple Slime can become powerful enough to pull off techniques like Gigagash.
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 will release in Japan on March 24, 2016 for Nintendo 3DS.
