Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake in Development

Square Enix has revealed Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake , which will release simultaneously worldwide. The game was announced in the Dragon Quest 35th anniversary special live stream, along with new information on the series’ upcoming lineup. There is currently no confirmed release date.

In Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake, players will be able to control a party of 2D characters. Like Octopath Traveler, there will be a sense of depth and layers.  Producer Masaaki Hayasaka has previously worked on Square Enix’s Octopath Traveller, as well as Various Daylife. The game is planned to release on home consoles and is designed to cater to “both adult fans who grew up with the game, and children who will play the game for the first time.”

Dragon Quest III appeared on multiple platforms over the years. It originally debuted on the NES. However, there were also remakes of it for the SNES and Game Boy Color. Later, the game appeared on the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and mobile devices.

Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake will get a simultaneous worldwide release on home consoles. There is currently no confirmed release date or confirmed console releases.
