Square Enix shared new info on Dragon Quest Builders 2 in this week’s issue of Jump magazine, with details on its story and several features that have been added or improved for the sequel. [Thanks, @Aterufa-Iomo.]
When the protagonist arrives in Empty Island, he/she hears a mysterious voice. This voice tells them to head to the top of the mountain and what awaits is a mysterious monument. They also discover pillars scattered about the island, and these have trials that you’ll need to take on.
The monument has five markers on them but we don’t know what they stand for. However, according to the mysterious voice, one can only become a Master Builder by clearing all the trials. What comes next when that is done?
The magazine also shares details on how the adventure has been evolved. The first one shows that you’ll now be able to swim underwater. The next one is a “Wind Mantle” that lets you glide. You can also see waterfalls now, and will have the ability to break blocks diagonally as shown in the bottom-middle shot. And lastly, players will get to travel in high-speed by dashing.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is in development for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Check our previous report for more info on the bad guys you’ll be fighting and how the game is actually connected to Dragon Quest II.
