At least one Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor won’t be recast. Mike Pollock, the Dr. Eggman voice actor, took to Twitter on February 5, 2021 to confirm he will remain. [Thanks, Nintendo Life!]
Here’s Pollock’s confirmation. In addition to being the voice actor for Dr. Eggman, he also appeared in anime series like Great Pretender, Ikki Tousen, Promare, and Yu-Gi-Oh.
On a personal note, I know you’ll want to speculate about what happened, and possible casting choices, but please bear in mind that, IRL, actors’ careers are steered by auditions, callbacks, bookings and rejections.
It’s a bit more complicated than choosing sides for kickball.

This news comes after multiple Sonic the Hedgehog voice actors announced they won’t voice characters anymore. First, Roger Craig Smith revealed he is no longer Sonic. Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who played Tails, and Cindy Robinson, who played Amy Rose, said they will not be the voices for the characters.
All of this comes ahead of a new Sonic Netflix show. Sonic Prime will air on the service in 2022. That will be a 3D animated series.
Mike Pollock has been the Dr. Eggman voice actor since the Sonic X cartoon in 2003. His first game appearance as the character was Shadow the Hedgehog in 2005.
