When the new Doom ships, the game will come with a content-creation tool called Doom Snapmap, Bethesda announced today at their E3 press conference.

The Doom Snapmap tool will allow users to “snap” together objects to create levels of their own. Id Software executive producer Marty Stratton stated that players would also be able to modify the in-game logic to create new modes and share their content online.

Update: Bethesda have confirmed that Doom Snapmap will be available for all versions of the game, and will be a cross-platform tool.

Some examples of modes you can use/create with Doom Snapmap are:

  • A co-op endurance mode where you survive waves of demons
  • A mode where you earn credits to spend on health or weapons
  • A 4-player deathmatch mode

In multiplayer, Doom is confirmed to have Domination, Freeze Tag, and Clan Arena modes. The game runs on the IdTech 6 engine.

Doom will be available Spring 2016 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
