DivX integration coming soon to a PS3 near you

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

I have a standalone DivX player and I’m still ecstatic to hear that DivX is going to be part of a future Playstation 3 firmware update. Besides being able to play DivX encoded discs, adding in the DivX codec allows Sony to release high quality movies/trailers that take up less hard drive space. Perhaps, Sony may even use the DivX codec as a more efficient way to sell downloadable DivX content. Remember Sony Pictures Entertainment has the rights to hits like The Boondocks and Seinfield to somehow sell over the Playstation store.
