When asked about how Discord came to be in the first place, Stanislav said that when he was in school, he was really into FFXI and was already working on a prototype version of what would eventually become Discord, an app that he could use to talk to friends while playing the game. It wasn’t until he met co-founder Jason Citron when he started working at GREE that both started to develop the app.

Stanislav also said that he is an avid FFXIV player and took a week off from work when the recent Dawntrail expansion released. When asked how long he’s been playing, he said that he has been playing since 1.0 version and he has the legacy mark tattoo to prove it. He added that most of his jobs are up to level 100, his main used to be a Machinist but has recently changed to Pictomancer. Meanwhile, for FFXI the Discord creator said that he has been playing it for about 10 years.

Final Fantasy XI is available on PCs. The game often receives content updates, with a recently released update that appeared on September 2024.
