Discord Nintendo Switch App Mentioned On Discord’s Twitter, But Would Need ‘Nintendo’s Blessing’

With the Nintendo Switch, there is currently only one way to engage in voice chat with other players. People need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online and use its Android and Apple iOS app to talk. However, on Twitter, the official Discord account was once again talking about the possibility of a Discord Nintendo Switch app. It would apparently come down to Nintendo.

A fan asked, “Discord for switch when?” The official account responded, “We would love to bring Discord to the switcht [sic]! But we’d need Nintendo’s blessing for that to happen first. Vote up the idea here and maybe it could be a thing someday.” It then linked to the Discord Submit a Request website, suggesting people voice their desire for such an app there. While there is no specific “Discord Nintendo Switch App” topic under Type of Question?, going with the general Help & Support category and going with General Question should be appropriate.

This is not an uncommon topic for Discord. It first began popping up as an idea about two years ago. Since then, Discord has often issued comments suggesting it would come down to Nintendo. For example, one Discord Nintendo Switch app request submitted to the official website prompted a representative to answer, “Nintendo would need to reach out to us for that one!”

Currently, Discord can be easily used with the Xbox One, PC, and both Android and Apple iOS devices.
