Remember Dillon’s Rolling Western, the quirky eShop game that looked a little reminiscent of the Zelda games on the Nintendo DS? That comparison actually isn’t too far from the truth.

Dillon’s Rolling Western is developed by Vanpool, the company that developed the Tingle series of games. Vanpool are developing the title in collaboration with Nintendo.

You play as Dillon, an armadillo ranger who tries to protect the Scrogs, the livestock of the land, from Grocks — evil rock monsters who love feeding on Scrogs. The game is part action, part tower defense. While you can attack enemies head on by using Dillon’s spin attack, there are often too many Grocks for Dillon to take on by himself.

In order to cope with the situation more effectively, you set up towers mounted with weapons, such as cannons and gattling guns to make crowd control a little easier.

Dillon’s Rolling Western is out today on the Nintendo eShop in Japan and Europe.
