In March 2020, Digmon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna was supposed to make a brief theatrical appearance via Fathom Events. For obvious reasons, that theatrical run has been canceled, leaving fans wondering when they’ll be able to catch this flick. Now, publisher Shout Factory has announced a release date for the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna Blu Ray/DVD home release. You’ll be able to pick up your own copy of Tai and company’s ostensible final adventure on July 7, 2020.

This release isn’t exactly right around the corner, but it’s a notable plot twist in this story. Due to the canceled theatrical run, Shout! Factory revealing its home video set seems to be happening ahead of when it was originally planned. We say that, because as noted by coverage over at Crunchyroll, this release has been announced even before the Japanese home release. That’s pretty unprecedented when it comes to anime movie localization, but as we all know this is an unprecedented series of current events.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna seems to be the final chapter in the story of the original Digimon anime crew. Now college-aged, the original DigiDestined have learned the bonds with their Digimon partners have an expiration date, right around the same time a new event needing their attention comes into play. To top it off, engaging in combat with their Digimon seems to be accelerating the process.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna will be available physically on July 7, 2020.
