Deus Ex: Human Revolution Pokes Fun At Final Fantasy

I’m not sure if this reference will be in the final game, but the build of Deus Ex: Human Revolution I played had a little Final Fantasy joke.

One of the rooms in Sarif Industries has a Final Fantasy XXVII poster on the wall. Yes, that’s "27." The poster had a stern gothic lolita female character with long brown hair and a flowery headband. Right above the XXVII you could see Square Enix’s logo on the poster. Deus Ex: Human Revolution takes place in the year 2027, so I suppose the poster is a reference to Deus Ex too. To the left, there was a Blade of Shintaro poster with a motorcycle that looks just like the lightcycles from Tron.

It appears Square Enix gave Eidos Montreal the greenlight to poke fun at the future and their company. Well, it wouldn’t be the first time a self-depreciating joke appeared in a Square Enix game.
