At Sony’s PlayStation 4 reveal back in March, Capcom teased a new game titled Deep Down, which was assumed to be a spiritual successor or replacement for Dragon’s Dogma.

Over on the Capcom forums, a user recently asked if Deep Down being a PS4 exclusive and free-to-play game Dragon’s Dogma Quest being a Vita title meant that the Dragon’s Dogma series was now a Sony-exclusive franchise.

To this, Senior VP Christian Svensson replied: “As above, no new [Dragon’s Dogma] product has been announced so there’s nothing I can comment on there. For reference [Dead Rising 3] and Deep Down have nothing to do with Dragon’s Dogma.”

Capcom have stated in the past that they would like to turn Dragon’s Dogma into a staple franchise, alongside others like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. That said, Deep Down not being directly connected to Dragon’s Dogma doesn’t necessarily prevent it from being a successor to that series.

In a separate thread, another user asked for an update on Deep Down, to which Svensson replied: “Nope. No news right now. It’s still quite far off. Ono-san tweeted we’d have it at E3 next year.”

Thus far, Capcom have not commented on whether Deep Down will be a multiplatform game or not.
