Death’s Gambit, a 2D, non-linear, open-world game, is headed to PlayStation 4, developer White Rabbit announced today. The has already been confirmed for a PC release as well. Here’s how they describe the title:

Death’s Gambit is a challenging 2D action RPG, where you explore an alien medieval planet filled with beasts, knights, and horrors. It’s a non-linear open world game, gated by epic bosses that test your mettle and force you to think outside the box. Several bosses and roaming creatures require you to climb them and fight while on the shoulder of giants.

Expect a deep combat system that makes you feel like there is always room for improvement. With multiple weapon types offering unique attacks and effects, becoming familiar with your weapon of choice is essential to overcoming your foes.

Death’s Gambit has been described as a “2D Shadow of the Colossus” in some ways. As the description states, part of the game involves scaling giants. You can learn more about the game here.

Death’s Gambit is slated for release sometime in 2016. A release date for the game has not yet been announced.
