Death Come True came true for the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices in late June 2020, but it still has yet to release on PlayStation 4 and PCs. However, Izanagi Games announced that the game will release on Steam for PCs in all regions on July 17, 2020.
For those unfamiliar with Death Come True, the “new wave interactive movie game” is the latest brainchild of Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka. It is an FMV game that features live action footage and real actors. The story takes place in a hotel where supposed serial murderer Makoto Karaki wakes up without his memories and finds a tied-up woman in the bathroom. With no idea what to do or where to go, the protagonist will need to figure out what happened during the hotel incident and make his way out of the situation alive. Fortunately, he somehow has the ability to go back in time if he dies, which will help him solve the mystery.
The game’s plot is purposefully vague in order to avoid spoilers, and Izanagi Games is also enforcing a strict no-spoiler policy, including banning livestreams and videos. On the Nintendo Switch version, the screenshot function is also disabled. This is all in order to make sure that first-time viewers will not be robbed of the experience.
Death Come True is available on the Nintendo Switch, iOS devices, and Android devices. The game will release on PCs via Steam on July 17, 2020 at 5pm JST. It is also heading to PlayStation 4 at an unknown date.
