A new translated entry in the Harada’s Bar Radio series is available and features Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada and Kouhei Ikeda talking about both Tekken 7 and Tekken x Street Fighter. In the case of the former, they talked about some crossover characters they’d like to see in the game. With regards to the latter, they expressed regret at not being able to share character models or concept art. [Thanks, Event Hubs!]
When discussing Tekken x Street Fighter, Harada and Ikeda repeatedly expressed how hard the team was working on the game and how much they regretted not being able to share concept art or character models. Both Chun-Li and Dhalsim were cited as being especially interesting and well done. They also mentioned how people “can see Akuma’s model,” as he appeared in Tekken 7 later. Capcom was cited as the reason no images were shared, due to it owning Street Fighter. They both also mentioned how they wished the concept art from various artists for the crossover. They then expressed that this could happen because the project died.
As for desired Tekken crossover character cameos, those came up at the 15:30 mark. Harada and Ikeda talked about other people they wanted in the game. Ryuji Yamazaki, from the SNK games Fatal Fury and KOF, and Virtua Fighter’s Goh Hinogami were both name-dropped. One of the more interesting quotes from this section is, “Can I just say one incredibly arrogant thing? At the risk of sounding judgmental, I’ll say this. Goh from Virtua Fighter would definitely be a cooler character if I handled him in Tekken.”
Here’s the full translated version of the June 5, 2021 Harada’s Bar Radio episode. The Tekken x Street Fighter conversation begins at the 17:15 mark, then resumes at 21:50.
