While searching around the USPTO I found a trademark for Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard filed by D3 Publisher, which did not sound like any of their Simple Series games. Some simple searching pointed to an article on 1up where they discuss the Matt Hazard “series”. D3 is creatively drawing buzz to Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard – whatever it is – with a faux series of Matt Hazard games. Many of the non existent Matt Hazard games are parodies of existing games complete with mockup screenshots and/or box art. As an example, the image above is from Matt Hazard 3D. D3 even outlines the Matt Hazard series through 8-bit glory days down to today where Matt Hazard is a washed up license reduced to making generic kart racing games.

A rather interesting campaign for an enigmatic game. Will Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard be a classic side scrolling shooter? Or a bundle of parody games? I would welcome either outcome.
