Cygames Will Create New Anime in 2023

Cygames plans on releasing a new anime in 2023. This news came in a feature in Famitsu for the New Year. Other than that, there are no concrete announcements for anything outside of a brief update on how hard it is working on Granblue Fantasy: Relink. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

We do not know if this is going to be related to an existing franchise. For instance, there were anime series for Granblue Fantasy and Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, amongst other animated adaptations of Cygames’s properties. Cygames also promised more content for its current titles, which includes both console and mobile games.

Cygames released an anime series, Akiba Maid War, in 2021. It is an original work that Cygames produced alongside P.A. Works. It is available on streaming services such as HIDIVE and Crunchyroll. Akiba Maid War is not based on an existing Cygames IP. So the anime that Cygames plans to produce in 2023 may be similar in that it is a completely original work.

In other news, Cygames plans on having various collaborations and musical events for Uma Musume: Pretty Derby in 2023. The game was an intense hit when it first came out, appearing in both the Yahoo Grand Prix 2021 and the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards. The fever has died done somewhat, though it is still a very popular game in regions that can access it.

More information on the new Cygames anime series will appear later in 2023.
