Cup Noodle shared an image of a game controller with a “shrimp” button in place of the A and B buttons. While not a real controller you can pick up and use, the controller is modeled after the Super Nintendo or Super Famicom controller.
The controller features the Cup Noodle logo between the D-pad and the Shrimp button, and the letters A and B can be seen above the shrimp itself. The pun behind this absurdist controller lies in the Japanese pronunciation of the letters A and B together and “ebi,” the Japanese word for shrimp, being very similar.

Cup Noodle has been recently sharing plenty of video game related jokes through the company’s X (formerly Twitter) official account. The most recent one involves a new flavor of Tonkotsu Genova basil ramen noodles that references a line from the FFVII Advent Children movie due to the similarities between the noodles and the name Jenova.
The reason for the various video game jokes feature in the Cup Noodle social media account is due to the recent “Cup Noodle Quest 2” campaign that the company is holding that offers a variety of Cup Noodle related merchandise goods. The campaign started on October 2024 and will be available until the end of January 2025.
