Two of Konami’s Anniversary Collections have received promised updates. Back in May 2019, the company said free patches would add the Japanese versions of games to Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Contra Anniversary Collection. Now, people who own, then update, the compilations will have access to the additional games.

This means that people might see games become more difficult, have religious imagery that wasn’t present in the localized versions, could have more blood or violence, or experience other changes. For example, Castlevania: Bloodlines is called Vampire Killer in its Japanese version, makes Eric look different, and has altered difficulty levels.

To find the different versions, all people have to do is scroll down the main menu. Below Bonus Book, there will be a Bonus JP Version option. Selecting that will take you to the additional Japanese version menu and select from those games.

Both Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Contra Anniversary Collection are available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
