Universal Studios Orlando has announced a new theme park called ‘Epic Universe’, and it seems that Super Nintendo World will appear there instead of at Universal Studios Florida. A new piece of concept art shows off the Donkey Kong Country-inspired area as well as the two-storied Super Mario-themed area that we know of. [Thanks, Collider via @LCASTUDIOS_USJ on Twitter!]
We’ve actually seen hints of the Donkey Kong Country area as far back as the first teaser image, to the right of the image behind Mario and Luigi, but it was only recently confirmed that this was the case. A mine kart ride has been confirmed for the area, and from the latest image we can see some palm tree huts, as well as a temple backdrop.
The Epic Universe theme park is also where the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Jurassic World areas are rumored to be featured. Here’s the full concept art below:
Finally, here’s where the park is supposed to be in relation to Universal Studios Florida:
No details have been given on when the park will open. Super Nintendo World will open in Japan’s Universal Studios Osaka in 2020, and was also recently confirmed for Universal Studios Singapore.
