In an alternate reality Chrono Cross is already on PlayStation Network worldwide. In our reality, only Japan has the PsOne classic. That’s going to change because Chrono Cross is on deck for a digital re-release. The ESRB re-rated Chrono Cross for PlayStation 3 and PSP with Sony Computer Entertainment tagged as the publisher. That’s pretty solid confirmation that Chrono Cross will make waves on PlayStation Network.
The ESRB also lists Final Fantasy Origins, a compilation of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II with enhanced graphics, as a PlayStation 3 and PSP title. There are so many remakes and ports of the first Final Fantasy, but the PsOne version retains the original magic system where players have tiers of spells instead of MP. It makes the game more challenging than later versions, but Final Fantasy Origins doesn’t include any bonus dungeons. If you want to see what happens to all of the dead characters from Final Fantasy II you’ll need to get Dawn of Souls for Game Boy Advance or the 20th Anniversary PSP remake.
