Google’s latest round of free games isn’t for Stadia users. Rather, it is for people who decided to grab a Chromebook to use as a laptop. The Chromebook Perks program page is offering up multiple apps and games for people who buy or have a Chromebook, letting them call dibs on the different programs until December 1, 2020. Most notably, free Stardew Valley and DOOM copies are along the offerings.
If people has a participating Chromebook or buys one, they can claim the different deals on the page. The free games include DOOM, DOOM II, and Stardew Valley, with each offer giving you a free app from Google Play. Other games that are normally free, like The Elder Scrolls Legends, Fallout Shelter, Fishdom, and Lineage, also are involved with the perks program for free bonuses like expansions and item packs. (The other offers involve a 30-day Calm subscription, 12 months of VSCO, six months of Squid Premium, and completely free Duet Display.)
When you claim the free programs or offers, the Chromebook Perks site gives you a Google Play code. So for the free Stardew Valley copy, you get a code for Google Play that can then install the game on any compatible device.
Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PC, Android devices, and Apple iOS devices. Its 1.5 update is in the works for many of them.
