Here is part of Paramount’s statement regarding the Sonic movie delay in China.

Sonic will only be slowing down his pace temporarily, and we look forward to bringing him zooming onto the big screen in China once it is appropriate to do so. As the whole country and world unite together to fight the outbreak of coronavirus, we would like to express our gratitude and respect to all the medical staff, the rescue personnel, and people in service who provide us with much-needed assistance and support during this time.

Sonic the Hedgehog launched without any issues in regions like North America, Europe, and South America. In fact, it made over $100 million its opening weekend. There are also in-movie hints that could help set the stage for a potential sequel. Its Japanese debut is currently set for March 27, 2020.

A new Chinese Sonic movie launch date has yet to be announced.
