Check Out Gal Gun Returns’ Akira and Aoi English Routes

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The time has come to see what it’s like to try and get close to two of  Gal Gun Returns’ heroines. From time to time, Inti Creates holds special livestreams to show off details about their games. The December 9, 2020 presentation  looked briefly at the Gal Gun Returns Akira Hibuki and Aoi Uno routes with Producer Matt Papa and Localization Lead Andrew Singleton.

For this most recent showcase, Papa was playing on the Seasoned Lover mode, while Singleton offered commentary. (There is also a Newbie Lover mode, for people new to the series or on-rails shooters in general.) After sharing things we already knew about the game, like its confirmed February 2021 debut and opening movie, the two hopped into brief demonstrations of both routes in English.

The two went through some of Akira’s route first. She’s the sporty childhood friend. The two went through a gymnasium, complete with pool, before finally happening upon a kendo-sword wielding Akira hitting what appeared to be bowling balls at the player. Meanwhile, Aoi’s route is set in the Music Room, which is fitting for a rocker like her. Eventually, she takes the stage with her guitar, and you have to shoot “Boos” from the audience to make them into “Yeahs.”

The Gal Guns Return Akira route footage begins at the 25 minute mark in the video below. You can see what Aoi’s route is like starting at the 37 minute point.

In case you missed it, the last Hangin’ at Inti HQ stream looked at gameplay from Kaname’s route.

Gal Gun Returns will come to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on February 12, 2021. There will even be a limited edition. It will launch on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One in Japan and Asia on January 28, 2021.
