For those unfamiliar, Celeste is a 2D platformer where players take control of a girl named Madeline. She must traverse all 250 levels to climb up the mountain trail and perhaps gain some spiritual guidance for her troubled soul along the way. The game came out in 2018 and later received a free update in the form of Chapter 9: Farewell. The game won the 2018 GDC Independent Games Festival audience award.

The game will be available to play if you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription from May 18 at 12pm JST to May 24 at 6pm JST, spanning around one week. Like other free trials offered by Nintendo, there are no limitations on how much of the game you’re allowed to play, so those daring enough could potentially even complete the game if they want.

Additionally, Nintendo will be holding a 50% discount sale for Celeste, for those who wish to support the developers or own a copy of the game. The sale will run from May 18 at 12pm JST to May 31, 2020 at 11:59pm JST.

Celeste is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide.
