CD Projekt Red officially released the REDKit for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, providing players with the modding tools to create and share their own mods. The REDKit includes a variety of features designed to simplify the modding process.
Users can create new quests, characters, and environments, as well as modify existing assets. CD Projekt Red noted that REDkit is designed user-friendly, so that even those new to modding should be able to take advantage of its tools. The launch included a means of support. CD Projekt Red also released a YouTube playlist that includes an installation tutorial and an introductory video for it. Notably, these videos are numbered, suggesting that additional tutorials could be released. An official user guide is available online as well, offering a walkthrough.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in 2015, and CD Projekt Red maintained and supported it post-launch. This included REDkit and new platforms’ support. While people could create their own mods before, the release of the REDKit, this marks the first official support of mod creation.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and the modding REDkit toolkit is available for the creation of new PC mod content.
