Captain Falcon Creator Joins ‘Falcon Lunch’ Online Trend

Nintendo’s former game developer, art director, and Captain Falcon creator Takaya Imamura recently joined the “Falcon Lunch” online trend. Imamura posted a photo of his meal with the aforementioned caption imitating Captain Falcon’s iconic Falcon Punch move and battle cry. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The original Falcon Lunch trend has existed since 2015 when the X (formerly Twitter) account @falcon_lunch started uploading photos of the owner’s meal alongside the simple caption. The account is modeled after the F-Zero protagonist and feature’s Falcon as the profile picture and his Blue Falcon insignia ship.

Imamura also informed the public that he reached out the original creator of the trend and asked for permission to upload his own rendition of the meme. In response, @falcon_lunch quoted the original post with a caption that translates to “Mwah! (Falcon Kiss).” Imamura has continued to upload more Falcon Lunch X posts ever since the first one on August 6, 2024, with two more having appeared so far.

As a reminder, the racing battle royale game F-Zero 99 is available on Nintendo Switch as part of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.
