Capcom Will Promote Steam Deck With Street Fighter 6 in Japan

Capcom has announced that it will set up demo booths in its select amusement centers across Japan that let the public try out Street Fighter 6 on the Steam Deck. The company also noted that the booths will only be available for a limited time. But while the booths will appear on June 1, 2024, Capcom did not specify the closing date.

Here are the six outlets that will offer public Steam Deck demo booths, along with their opening and closing times:

  1. Capcom Store Osaka at Shinsaibashi Parco (10am to 8pm JST)
  2. Plaza Capcom Ikebukuro at Grandscape Ikebukuro (10am to 11pm JST)
  3. Plaza Capcom Shitoro at Aeon Mall Hamamatsu Shitoro in Shizuoka Prefecture (10am to 9pm JST)
  4. Plaza Capcom Hiroshima at The Outlets Hiroshima (10am to 10pm JST)
  5. Amuse Factory Tokoname at Aeon Mall Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture (10am to 9pm JST)
  6. Miraino Aeon Mall Hakusan in Ishikawa Prefecture (10am to 9pm JST)

Capcom’s Steam Deck demo booths will also contribute to raising awareness of Steam as a gaming platform in Japan. As a reminder, the Steam Deck has been formally available for purchase in Japan and other East Asian countries and territories since late 2022.

Other Japanese game companies have also been reconsidering the releases of their titles on the platform. For instance, Bandai Namco just made the Steam versions of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Xenoverse 2, and FighterZ purchasable in Japan in late May 2024, even though those games have been long available elsewhere worldwide.

Street Fighter 6 is readily available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and arcades. The PC version that has come out on Steam is also playable on the Steam Deck.
