Bravely Default: Flying Fairy was recently announced for release North America and Europe. It’ll be a while until we get our hands on the game, but for now you can check out Square Enix’s free-to-play browser game, Bravely Default: Praying Brage, which takes place 200 years after the 3DS title! Siliconera will guide you on how to set up an account and start playing.

Bravely Default: Praying Brage is entirely in Japanese, but that doesn’t mean we can’t give it a shot! All you need is a Japanese Yahoo account. First, you’ll have to click on the big Game Start button on this page.

It’ll ask for a Japanese Yahoo account that is required to login. Keep in mind, that it’s different from a regular Yahoo account, so unless you already have one, click the account create button shown in the above image.

Then you’ll see this screen, where you’ll be prompted to input some info:

In the Japanese ZIP Code part, you’ll need to input one that’s actually from Japan. For the occasion, you can be an honorary resident from my hometown of Takasaki City in Gunma Prefecture, here! Choose any ZIP Code from there and copy/paste it into the field.

On the next page, you’ll have to select either EAST or WEST servers. You’ll then be greeted by an intro video, which you have the option to skip. You’ll have to pick an elemental force to go with out of: Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. They have promotional items if you go with certain elements. Currently it is the Earth attribute. You can check which one by seeing which attribute name in brackets within the circled area above.

After entering a nickname, a fairy character will guide you through tutorials. Simply clicking the tutorials as she asks will finish the first part. Next, you’ll have to fight some Goblins. Do exactly as she says in the visual presentation to get there.

You can pick up to five characters for battle, but you’ll be starting out with three for now. You’ll also be able to choose whether you want a character to be in the front or back rows. The ones up front will do more damage but will also take more damage and the opposite of that for characters in the back. When you’re ready, click the green button on the bottom.

The battles are pretty simple. The commands are Fight, Job Abilities, Defend, Item and Change. You’ll have 10 minutes and 10 turns to clear the fight, which is more than enough for now. After defeating the enemies, you’ll get to see how much pq (currency), EXP and Job EXP you’ve gained. In order to complete the stage, you need to get the yellow bar to 100%, so it might take a few tries.

After beating the Goblins, you can go back to the tutorial area to take on the next challenges. In Tutorial no. 3, she’ll give a brief explanation of the EP system. Each play will take up one EP, which is located on the top left in blue. The EP bar will recover 1 point every 30 minutes. She’ll quiz you by asking how much EP you have at the moment.

In the next tutorial, you’ll be prompted to summon a new character. They can be acquired by either using pq, premium coins or special tickets.

Your characters also have stamina. When their bar is at 0, they won’t be able to participate in fights. You can recover it by clicking on the green bubble and using an item. Furthermore, you’ll also have to click on the LvUP buttons in order for their levels and job levels to actually go up. Doing this will also clear Tutorial no.6. Follow the next tutorial to see how to unlock jobs.

Tutorial 9 and 10 will be about the home base town. Simply visit the accessory shop and purchase the gauntlet to clear 9. Then go back to level it up, which will take about 10 minutes. Once you’re done, that’s it for the tutorials. The rest will be up to you!

Here’s a little menu guide to help you out later:
