It’s no secret that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, also known as Yakuza 8, focuses on the new location of Hawaii as the centerpiece for the massive JRPG. However, some players, especially those who liked the previous games, may be wondering if you can return to places in Japan like Yokohama and Kamurocho in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth.
Can I return to Japan in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth?
First and foremost, here is your pretty much spoiler-free, yes-or-no answer to whether or not you return to Japan in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. The answer is yes. You are able to return to Japan in this game. As you may know, the game starts with Kasuga in Yokohama but you soon leave for Hawaii. Yes, you do return to Japan eventually. Now, if you want to know the specifics and don’t mind spoilers, keep on reading.
How do I switch between Yokohama, Kamurocho, and Hawaii in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?
Note: There will be spoilers ahead for Yakuza 8‘s main story.
You are finally able to return to Yokohama and Kamurocho in this game once you reach Chapter 8. While being vague, Chapter 7 will see the players go into a certain dungeon and rescue someone, which will then trigger the transition to some of the characters in Japan again. You will be in Yokohama at first and can interact with any taxi to switch to Kamurocho and explore the red light district in Tokyo.
If you want to go back to Hawaii, however, you’ll have to continue the main story until you reach the point where you get to Chapter 9. Unfortunately, the game takes a back-and-forth approach where it isn’t easy to switch between the two nations.
If you want to explore Japan, you’ll want to be in Chapters 8, 10, 12, etc. On the other hand, if you want to explore Yokohama during the main story, you’ll need to be in Chapters 1-7, 9, 11, 13, etc.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
