Can You Recruit Nigel in Unicorn Overlord?

When it comes to Nigel in Albion, he’s a Unicorn Overlord that it seems like you maybe should be able to recruit, but things don’t go exactly as planned. Here’s what you need to know about getting this unit for your army.

How do I recruit Nigel in Unicorn Overlord?

Editor’s Note: There will be minor Unicorn Overlord spoilers below.

Well, basically you need to wait until you beat the game. While you’ll first encounter Nigel in the Albion Main Quest mission “Bound by Sacred Oath,” and even fight alongside him for “The Holy March,” he won’t join during that part. However, you can see what controlling the Dark Marquess is like in the Main Quest mission “The Holy March,” as he will be in a unit you can use during it. However, spoilers aside, there will be events that will keep him from immediately being part of your party.

You need to take the quest “Unicorn Overlord” in Cornia to start the process to recruit Nigel in the game. This takes place in Gran Corrine, in the center of the map. It’s also completely blocked off by battle markers leading to the area, warning it is an Enemy Level 40 fight.

As in “The Holy March,” Nigel will end up popping up as an ally you can control. He just doesn’t show up right away. I’d say about a third of the way into the fight, after a story segment that involves Alain learning the Cleansing Valor Skill, he will appear in a scripted scene. He then permanently joins the Liberation Army when he does and comes under your control.

Unicorn Overlord is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X
