Can You Beat the Ant Queen in Suikoden

The first major boss you face in Suikoden HD Remaster is the Queen Ant and her minions on Mount Seifu. The thing is, it’s one of those JRPG bosses. That is, it is going to wipe you out. However, given there’s now the easy mode in the game, you might wonder if it is possible to perhaps beat it.

Can I beat the Ant Queen in Suikoden?

Nope! You aren’t going to beat the Ant Queen in that first encounter. No matter what, this enemy will beat you. You can beat some of her Soldier Ants, since they aren’t very difficult. However, she’ll also summon new ones continually until everyone in your party is knocked out. So don’t struggle too hard or waste items.

Once you finish the fight, you’ll see the scripted event with Ted. However, there’s something important you need to do after fighting the Ant Queen for the first time: heal. There will be more enemies ahead, including your first actual boss fight against Sydonia and Varkas. Make sure you have at least one Medicine on-hand to restore everyone after the fight.

Don’t feel too bad about this boss wiping you out right away. Much later, you’ll see it as a standard enemy in Seek Valley. Once there, it will actually be a reasonable fight you can win. But if you do have an issue with that foe then, make sure you have at least one character in your party with a Fire or Earth Rune equipped.

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will come to the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on March 6, 2025. The original games appeared on the PlayStation worldwide. They also appeared together in a collection on the PSP in Japan.
