A new Bravely Default game has been confirmed. During The Game Awards 2019, Square Enix revealed Bravely Default II. The game will be appearing on the Nintendo Switch. It will launch in 2020. This comes after a 2017 tease that showed Edea playing on a Nintendo Switch and a December 2018 message from Tomoya Asano and Masashi Takahashi.
Details about the people behind Bravely Default II were revealed in its announcement trailer. Team Asano, who worked on Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler, is producing. Claytechworks, from Bravely Default, is developing. Revo, who handled Bravely Default’s music, is again putting together the soundtrack.
A teaser website is now open. It confirms there will be a new band of characters known as the Heroes of Light, who will travel the world looking for the four Crystals. It will have entirely new characters in a new world.
The original Bravely Default is a successor to Square Enix’s Nintendo DS RPG Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. The first Bravely game appeared on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. It was followed by a direct sequel called Bravely Second: End Layer in 2015.
Two Bravely spin-offs have also appeared. There was a Bravely Default: Playing Brage browser game in Japan and a mobile game worldwide called Bravely Archive. However, Square Enix has since shut both of them down.
Bravely Default II will come to the Nintendo Switch in 2020.
