Rick and his Jason-like hockey mask will return next year, just in time for Halloween. Namco Bandai’s Splatterhouse revival promises extreme gore with “shock value to the next level with physics-driven fluids and organ parts flying in all directions.” Probably the result of “splatterkills” which has players use analog stick movements (a la Jet Grind Radio?) to tear enemies apart. Leftover limbs and chainsaws can be used as weapons.
These screenshots don’t show airborne spleens and adrenals so you’ll have to use your imagination.
Namco Bandai Games America is listed as the publisher and developer of Splatterhouse. Previously, Mark of Kri developer Bottlerocket was attached to the project before Namco Bandai brought it in house. The revised game is slated for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the third quarter of 2010.
