The announcement tweet also included a piece of art and a Fall 2022 Release window for Black Rock Shooter Fragment.

The art, provided by artist Rui Tomono, shows the titular character Black Rock Shooter crouching in front of some ruins hollowed out by her weapon.

The game is in development at G2 Studios. The Tokyo-based developer also created titles like My Hero Academia Ultra Impact and IDOLiSH7. Not much is known about staff on the development team, but Scrapped Princess and Chaika the Coffin Princess creator Ichiro Sakaki will write the  game’s main story and setting.

Black Rock Shooter itself began in 2007 with an illustration by artist huke (who designed characters for Steins;Gate). The illustration inspired a Vocaloid song performed by Hatsune Miku, followed by anime productions, and even games. Black Rock Shooter: The Game released for the PlayStation Portable in 2011, and was even localized by NIS America.

Black Rock Shooter Fragment will debut in Japan on Android and iOS in Fall 2022. The Dawn Fall anime will premiere worldwide on Disney+ in April 2022.
