The developers thanked fans for all of the support since launching about two years ago. Bandai Namco didn’t provide a reason for shutting down the mobile game, but the company shared an apology for the sudden announcement. The game will end sales of the micro-transaction currency, Black Jewel, starting November 4, 2020. Players who still have Black Jewels will get to use them until the game shuts down on December 9, 2020.

Bandai Namco first released the free-to-play mobile game as Black Clover: Mugen no Kishi-dan in Japan in November 2018. The title made its global debut in January 2020. Gameplay involves defending your kingdom with a Magic Knights Brigade, featuring characters like Asta, Yuno, Yami, and Noelle.

Bandai Namco first announced that the Japanese version of Black Clover Phantom Knights is shutting down, but the global version has updated with the following as well:

“We regret to announce the closure of this game on December 9, 2020. The game and all items can be used until the last day. Check in-game announcements for more info.”

Black Clover Phantom Knights is currently available for iOS and Android devices.
