Black Clover Mobile Game Announced at Jump Festa 2022

A new mobile game based off of Black Clover is slated for a 2022 release. The publisher is Pearl Abyss, which is the developer behind the MMORPG Black Desert. To be more precise, Vic Game Studios, which is a subsidiary of Pearl Abyss, is working on the game. It ended up revealed with a fairly lengthy trailer during Jump Festa 2022. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The game trailer for Black Clover Mobile (working title) is approximately four minutes long. At the bottom, there is a disclaimer noting that the trailer uses only scenes from the game, which means that what we are seeing in the trailer is what it will actually look like. The game will also allow players to relive key scenes from the anime. Indeed, the trailer almost feels like a retread of the show.

Aside from Asta and Yuno, you will be able to collect Black Clover characters in order to make your own magical team. How you gain characters is still unclear. As it is a mobile game, though, it is fairly likely that there is some sort of gacha system involved.

This is not the first Black Clover game to be available on smartphones. Bandai Namco released a kingdom defense RPG, Black Clover: Phantom Knights, in 2018. However, it shut down on December 9, 2020. Bandai Namco did not specify a reason. While the global version for Phantom Knights launched in 2020 (two years after the game’s initial release), there is no news as to whether or not Black Clover Mobile will make it overseas.

Black Clover Mobile will come out on iOS and Android devices in 2022. A movie is also in development.
