Best Yunli Build in Honkai: Star Rail Boosts Her Ultimate, Follow-Up Attack

Yunli in Honkai: Star Rail is a 5-star Physical Destruction character whose build requires Light Cones and Relics that focus on her Ultimate and follow-up attack. Here are some of the best gear you can put on Yunli to maximize her damage potential.

For starters, most of Yunli’s damage will come from her Ultimate’s counter. While her follow- up counters are neat too, her Ultimate has a much higher scaling. So when you’re building her, avoid, say, a full set of The Ashblazing Grand Duke, since it only increases how much damage her follow-up attack does.

  • Dance at Sunset
As Yunli’s signature Light Cone, this is the best one you can give her. It increases the chance of enemies attacking her (getting rid of the need for a character like Lynx, who can boost Yunli’s aggro), as well as increases her Crit DMG. Every time she uses her Ultimate, she can gain a stack that increases her follow-up attack. All in all, everything that Yunli wants is in this Light Cone. This is great if you have Lynx specifically for her aggro effect, as you can free up Lynx’s slot for a sustain like Huohuo or Aventurine, who might offer more in terms of DPS or Energy Regeneration.
  • Something Irreplaceable
This is Clara’s signature Light Cone and a great one for Yunli, which makes sense since they play so similarly. It increases her ATK, as well as restores HP every time an enemy hits her or she defeats an enemy. As well, it’ll increase her DMG until the end of her next turn. You might need to time things so that she gets that DMG boost when she uses her Ultimate, but other than that, this is a fantastic Light Cone for those who don’t have her signature. It’s technically free too, since you can also exchange for it in the store.
  • The Unreachable Side
This is Blade’s signature Light Cone, but it works quite well for Yunli too if you have it and aren’t using Blade at the moment. It increases her Crit Rate and Max HP, as well as her DMG every time the enemy attacks her. While the Max HP thing doesn’t sound that interesting compared to how it works for Blade (since Blade scales off of his Max HP), this helps with Yunli’s survivability. Yunli has pretty high stats on her own, but accidents can happen, especially if you’re using Yunli and you haven’t finished building her yet.
  • The Moles Welcome You
The Moles Welcome You is one of the best 4-star Light Cones for Destruction characters because basically anyone can use it. It increases Yunli’s ATK via a Mischievous stack every time she uses her Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate. Her main method of dealing damage is via her Ultimate, so she should always be able to get stacks.
  • Under the Blue Sky
Like the Moles, Under the Blue Sky is a great generic Destruction Light Cone. It increases Yunli’s ATK, as well as her Crit Rate when she defeats an enemy. You’ll know once you start building her, but Yunli can clear random battles pretty easily if she’s on a team that can give her Energy, so she should be able to get the Crit Rate bonus pretty quickly. This can then free her up for more Crit DMG in her Relics.

Here are the best Relics for Yunli

When farming for Relics for your Yunli build in Honkai: Star Rail, try to prioritize: ATK %, Quantum DMG %, and Crit stats. Unlike other attackers, you do not need to give Yunli much SPD. This is because her Basic Attack and Skill aren’t that important to her. What are—her follow-up attack and Ultimate—depend on enemies attacking her and not the other way around.

  • 4-pc The Wind-Soaring Valorous
This is probably the Relic Set HoYoVerse designed for Yunli. It increases her ATk with only a 2-pc set. But with a 4-pc, it increases her Crit Rate. As well, it increases how much DMG her Ultimate deals after she uses a follow-up attack. This does mean that to maximize Yunli on this set, you will need to manually play her because the AI sometimes won’t bother waiting until a follow-up attack.
  • 2-pc The Ashblazing Grand Duke, 2-pc Champion of Streetwise Boxing
As mentioned earlier, Yunli cannot make use of a full The Ashblazing Grand Duke set. So don’t bother giving her everything. You can instead combine it with a Champion of Streetwise Boxing set for a Physical DMG increase or Musketeer for an ATK boost.
  • 4-pc Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters
Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters is not at all an optimal set for Yunli, but she can make use of it if you don’t have anything else in the above sets. This relies on the fact that Yunli’s taunt is a debuff so it increases the damage from her Ultimate.
  • Inert Salsotto
Inert Salsotto is the best option you have for Planar Ornaments when it comes to Yunli. You’ll need to have at least 50% Crit Rate, but her Traces can help with that if you’re having trouble. It increases how much DMG her follow-up attack and Ultimate deals, which is why you’ll want to put Inert Salsotto on her.
  • Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves
If you don’t want to or can’t use Inert Salsotto, you can also give Duran a try. Duran increases how much DMG Yunli deals when she uses her follow-up attack via stacks. Once she reaches five stacks, she’ll get a 25% Crit DMG increase. This works really well in places like Pure Fiction, since you’ll be in there for long enough that Yunli can get those stacks for the Crit DMG boost.
  • Signonia, the Unclaimed Desolation
Sigonia is also a good Set for places like Pure Fiction, as she can get slowly and steadily increase her Crit DMG for every enemy she defeats. Granted, you can’t get any more than 10 stacks.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You can only pull for Yunli in Honkai: Star Rail when the “Earth Hurled, Ether Curled” banner is active.
