Best Yukong Build in Honkai: Star Rail Depends on Speed

Yukong is a 4-star Imaginary Harmony character who debuted in Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.1 as a playable character. As a Harmony character, she is mainly a support character who provides buffs. However, Yukong is different from other existing Harmony characters in that she works best as a sub-DPS whose Speed depends on the party. Because her buff does not scale off of any skill, you’re free to focus on Light Cones and Relics that focus on her as an Imaginary attacker.

To best understand how to build Yukong, it’s easiest to start from how to use her. Yukong’s Skill, Emboldening Salvo, grants her two Roaring Bowstrings. While she has stacks, she can massively increase the ATK of the entire party. However, she loses stacks every time an ally’s turn ends. When she uses her Ultimate with Roaring Bowstrings stacks, she can greatly increase the party’s Crit Rate and Crit DMG, as well as deal Imaginary DMG.

Looking at that, it can be easy to see how Yukong is a little different than other Harmony characters. They always want good SPD. But because Yukong’s buff will disappear with turns, you’ll want to adjust her SPD depending on what order you want everyone to move in. Yukong should be the fastest character in your party, so that your two DPS characters will move before your healer/shielder. The alternative is Yukong is the slowest character in your party, so that when your two DPS characters move again in the next cycle, they’ll get her buff and not the healer/shielder. You have to be careful with a slow build so that she’s not so slow the other characters are moving twice before her. It takes some trial and error to tune everyone’s SPD just right.

Here are the best Light Cones for Yukong in Honkai: Star Rail:

  • Memories of the Past
This is one of the best Light Cones you can put on Yukong right now. It increases the wearer’s Break Effect and regenerates Energy every time she attacks. Since Yukong will be attacking every other turn, she can passively increase the party’s Energy this way. As an Imaginary character, she also has a great Break Effect.
  • Dance! Dance! Dance!
This Advances Forwards the party’s turn when Yukong uses her Ultimate. Since Yukong has a really good Ultimate when it comes to single-target Imaginary DMG, you’ll want good Energy Regeneration on her anyway.
  • Planetary Rendezvous
This is a really good one for Yukong in a party that focuses on Imaginary. She is a good Imaginary support because she has Traces that increase Imaginary DMG, and this will help with that.
  • Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds
This is a good general Harmony Light Cone that is available from the Nameless Glory. Though it does require you to put money into the game, which makes it an unfriendly choice for F2P users, you can guarantee getting it and it’s a nice Light Cone for any Harmony character due to how it buffs the entire party.
  • Past and Future
This is a good Light Cone if you can guarantee that your main DPS will be the one to take a turn after Yukong. It increases the next ally’s DMG for one turn after the wearer uses their Skill. In Yukong’s case, her Skill also increases the party’s ATK.

Here are the best Relics for Yukong in Honkai: Star Rail:

When choosing Relics, decide if you want to go for a slow Yukong or a fast Yukong. If you want a slower one, you don’t want SPD, after all. Other stats that she’ll want are Crit Rate, Crit DMG, Imaginary DMG, and ATK. None of her buffs scale off of any particular skill, so you can focus on Yukong’s own ability to survive or her role as an Imaginary attacker.

  • Musketeer of Wild Wheat
A 4-pc of Musketeer is the best general Set for Yukong since it can increase how much DMG she deals, as well as help with adjusting her SPD values. You can also run it as a 2-pc and pair it with Wastelander.
  • Wastelander of Banditry Desert
As mentioned earlier, you can use a 2-pc of Wastelander with Musketeer because Wastelander gives an Imaginary DMG bonus. However, it’s only by 10% so you might be better off running full Musketeer or full Wastelander. Since Wastelander’s Crit Rate and Crit DMG effect only works against debuffed enemies, you might want to run this with a dedicated debuffer. A mono-Imaginary team with Silver Wolf is the best way to use a Wastelander Yukong.
  • Inert Salsotto/Sprightly Vonwacq
Both of these Planar Ornaments focus on Yukong’s Ultimate. Inert Salsotto increases the DMG and Sprightly Vonwacq increases her Energy Regeneration so she can use it more. Choose depending on what she needs.
  • Fleet of the Ageless
This is a general one for if your Yukong is lacking in HP and you want to focus on boosting the party’s ATK instead of just her own. However, this is only if you’re using a fast Yukong because you need to hit the 120 SPD requirement.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on Windows PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development. As a 4-star character, Yukong is perpetually available in the gacha.
