The Best Tips for New (and Returning) Players in Palia

While these tips are not a catch-all in terms of what you may or may not want to progress in the game, these will primarily be focused on helping you make a fair amount of Gold and keep your income sustainable.

Upgrade Your Tools

One of the first things you will want to do is to upgrade your Tools, primarily your Pickaxe and Axe. This is because you will need Fine or above Tools to harvest Palium Ore and Flow-Trees. Not only are these materials invaluable, but they will make harvesting trees and rocks a lot faster as well.

You don’t really need to upgrade beyond Fine Tools, in my opinion. But if you want to increase the speed at which you harvest, then invest in your tools. Don’t forget that they can break, so if you see the durability of your tools drop below 25%, head to Sifuu’s Forge and repair them, or you’ll need to remake them.

Always Eat Food

Palia has all of the bells and whistles that make up the modern Farming Sim bundled up into an MMORPG. Cooking is one such thing players can do, and even level up to unlock new recipes! While cooking may not be for everyone, you will want to eat food items (either cooked by yourself, friends, or purchased from Rell in Kilima Village) to increase your Focus.

Focus grants players a small EXP bonus when harvesting, cooking, and fishing, which helps you level up just a little bit faster. This is especially helpful in getting from Level 9 to Level 10, and for getting unique currency once you’ve reached hit Level 10 in any specific profession.

Mine in Kilima and Bahari Bay

Mining has become one of the easiest ways to earn money in Palia. This is due to the inclusion of Star Stones, which randomly drop from any mining node. One of the best things you can do for yourself in Palia is to upgrade your Pickaxe to a Fine Pickaxe and head to Bahari Bay to start mining Iron. You’ll need it for tool upgrades and for later furniture items.

This is also how you can earn some highly prized Palium Ore. (You can read more about this here.) Once you’ve upgraded to the Fine Pickaxe mine to your heart’s content for a chance at those prized stones and valuable Iron and Copper Ores.

Increase Your Farming Plots

Farming is one of the more sustainable ways to make income in Palia. Once you’ve leveled that profession enough, you can unlock an item that allows you to convert crops into seeds. This is when you can start supporting yourself through farming, which is great for players who need lots of vegetables for cooking specific recipes. You can read this guide on how to increase the amount of farming plots on your personal plot.

Always Talk to Villagers

One of the many things you can do in Palia is increase your reputation with the locals and even romance them! But what makes talking to the denizens of Bahari Bay and Kilima Village so important is that you will need them at least at Rank 4 Friendship to continue one of the main story quests. Alongside this, befriending Zeki will allow you to access a special shop that sells rare furniture items.

These are some of the best tips for new and even returning players in Palia and will help you get started on the right foot.

Palia is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
