Best New Shoujo and Romance Winter 2025 Anime

The Winter 2025 anime season is kicking off a brand new year of anime. There is a ton of new series across various categories to check out, including the shoujo demographic as well as some adjacent series like romantic comedies. These are the best shoujo Winter 2025 anime worth checking out in terms of adaptation, characters, writing, animation, and more. Some are totally new series, while others are new seasons of existing shows.

Honey Lemon Soda

This is an instant shoujo classic that has been years, if not honestly a full decade, in the making. It tells the story of a shy girl who falls for the popular boy that brings out a different side of her. The relationship between the two is remarkable and it should go down as one of the best, if not the best, new romance anime of 2025. If you’re not watching this one, you’re missing out.

Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You

I don’t want to say too much about this particular romance series to avoid spoilers because it gets off to a strong start from the beginning. The main character, Mizuha, has a cruddy 17th birthday with numerous unfortunate situations except for a surprise love confession that flips her world upside down. This series starts in a unique place compared to most similar shoujo anime.

Okitsura

Okitsura is not, specifically, for the shoujo demographic; instead, it’s seinen. But you should still watch this series if you love romantic comedies. It is one of the funniest romance anime of this year, but it has a lot of heart, too. It follows a boy who hilariously falls for an Okinawan girl that he can’t understand, so he gets his female friend to help out. But there are layers to the drama, with a love polygon of sorts occurring.

My Happy Marriage Season 2

My Happy Marriage, in my opinion, was the best anime of 2023, and it will likely be up there as one of the best again this year in general with Season 2. I like to compare this series as a mix between the familial drama of Fruits Basket with the style of Violet Evergarden, but with a bit more action than you might expect. The two leads are some of the strongest and most memorable in the romance anime genre, so this is a must watch.
