The best place to farm Gunpowder in Palworld

Unlike other resources like High Quality Pal Oil and Bone, Gunpowder only drops from one Pal in Palworld: Tocotoco. The Neutral-type bird with a love for destruction is native to the desert regions in the game. You get one Gunpowder per Tocotoco that you catch or kill.

My favorite place to farm kill Tocotoco is in the Twilight Dunes, west of the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant fast travel point. Around seven of the Pals spawn in just this one area, all around levels 11-15, and you’ll find a few more dotted around the immediate vicinity, too.

Once all the Tocotoco in the area have been taken care of, leave and come back to refresh the spawns and rinse and repeat the above method if you still need more Gunpowder. I got 50 in just over 20 minutes by doing this.

Just be careful when taking on Tocotoco because its Self-Destruct Skill really hurts if you get caught in the blast. It’s best to be quick when dealing with the bird, especially when they’re in a group.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer, you can craft Gunpowder, rather than dealing with Tocotoco. To do this, you’ll need to be at least level 21 and have unlocked it in the Technology tab. You’ll also need the High Quality Workbench.

Below are the materials you need to craft Gunpowder in Palworld:

  • 1 Sulfur.
  • 2 Charcoal.

Gunpowder is used to make the following ammo:

  • Assault Rifle Ammo.
  • Coarse Ammo.
  • Handgun Ammo.
  • Rifle Ammo.
  • Rocket Ammo.
  • Shotgun Shells.
  • Frag Grenade.
