Although featuring a much smaller list of weapons to choose from compared to other entries in the franchise, Dynasty Warriors Origins is still home to a solid arsenal. There are nine different weapons to unlock during the main campaign. If you’re trying to earn skill points and rank up, it’s important to increase your proficiency in all of them. That being said, not all weapons are created equal. Some are better for clearing out soldiers. Others excel in 1-to-1 duels against enemy officers. Most players naturally gravitate towards weapons whose playstyles complement their own. For those of you still searching for the perfect weapon of choice, here’s a handy list of the best Dynasty Warriors Origins weapons in respect to their all-around utility and ease of use.
Best Dynasty Warriors Origins Weapons
Sword

Suggesting the first weapon available to you might seem like a cop out, but the sword’s versatility is hard to beat. They can knock enemies into the air and perform aerial combos. Swords can unleash flurry strikes against a large group. They even have combos that can move you quickly across a battlefield. Despite its fairly simple move-set, swords can still deal a decent amount of damage in short amounts of time- and they’re fast! This makes breaking down officer fortitudes to initiate an assault a lot easier with a sword. Sword Battle Arts are just as versatile, giving you several options to deal with any threat. The only drawback to swords is their shorter reach compared to most other weapons. However, the flexibility in playstyle a sword allows more than makes up for it. Swords are evergreen weapons in Dynasty Warriors Origins. For maximum utility, use a sword.
Gauntlets

Gauntlets require you to get up close and personal with your enemies- but that’s exactly where you want to be. Gauntlets use stances to generate attacks. By activating a stance, your standard normal attack combo changes speed, power, and even area of effect! Admittedly, the first couple of stances you unlock aren’t very impressive. The Serpent and Phoenix Stances you unlock after raising your proficiency with gauntlets overshadow them completely. Even with short range, gauntlets pack a mean punch, and are capable of mowing down large groups quickly. Pro-tip: Alleviate your range issues by equipping an Oblivion Gem! Your attacks don’t cause a knockback effect until the end of your combos. It’s fairly easy to keep enemy officers in range, and shave down their fortitude. If breaking opponents’ guards and getting lots of assaults off is what you’re looking for in Dynasty Warriors Origins, the gauntlets are your best friends.
Crescent Blade

For some reason, Dynasty Warriors Origins features many polearms. The Crescent Blade is the final weapon to unlock in the main campaign, but well worth the wait. While the Staff is a great aggro weapon, and the Lance is amazing at reflecting damage back at enemies, the Crescent Blade is a “best of all worlds” situation. It’s slightly faster than the Podao and Twin Pikes, and its ability to chain strong attacks into normal ones and vice versa creates nonstop carnage. The Crescent Blade features an upgrade mechanic, evolving its attacks as long as you maintain your onslaught. Crescent Blade Battle Arts react to upgrades when used appropriately as well. Crescent Blades have wide-sweeping slashes and great reach. Properly chaining attacks together can shred officer fortitude and build-up large amounts of bravery quickly. If you want to be the most devastating element on the battlefield, wield a Crescent Blade.
It’s All About Style

Wheels deserve an honorable mention here. Probably the most unique weapon in the game, the Wheels are all about well-timed button presses to activate enhanced moves. Ultimately, the best Dynasty Warriors Origins weapons are the ones you gel with the most. Some players prefer the Twin Pikes for their berserker-style gameplay, or the Staff for its high combo count. All in all, there truly isn’t a terrible weapon in the roster- but if you’re looking for some inspiration, hopefully this guide helps steer you in the right direction.
